Report of Movie Screening
Date – 15th February, 2025

On February 15, 2025, The IISU Economics Society in collaboration with Ellipsis, The Literary and Debating Society conducted a movie screening of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ for the students of IIS University at Aditya Hall. The screening was aimed to bring together a diverse audience to appreciate the art of storytelling through film, while also highlighting the themes of destiny, hope, and perseverance.

During the intermission break, a thrilling game inspired by ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ was conducted to add a competitive twist to the event and made the activity more interactive. The game had multiple rounds including the first round in which two participants were called from the audience to compete, and they were each given three lifelines (50-50, ask the audience, call a friend). The questions revolved around trivia about Slumdog Millionaire and Bollywood in general, bringing in both fun and learning for the attendees. This was followed by the audience round where everyone had the chance to engage. The participants actively interacted, cheerfully answered questions, and tested their Bollywood and cultural knowledge. Along with this, dedicated food stalls serving snacks ranging from popcorn to cold drinks were set up to offer movie-goers small treats throughout the screening, keeping everyone energized and refreshed. A photo booth with Bollywood-themed props was also set up, giving attendees the opportunity to capture memorable moments with friends and fellow movie lovers.

As the movie approached its climax, the entire audience was filled with anticipation. Buzzing with the theatrics of the finale, the audience engaged in an impromptu energetic dance party, thus ending the movie screening on an energetic high note! Feedback forms were also handed out to the audience to gather their thoughts on the overall experience. The student community and event organizers thus committed to organizing more such events to foster dialogue within the university community on impactful and thought-provoking cinema.
