The IISU Economics Society of IIS (Deemed to be university) organized UNECOSOC on 4th February, 2025 in Ojas Hall. The event provided a dynamic platform for young minds to engage in meaningful discussions on global humanitarian crises and explore strategic socio-economic solutions to address pressing challenges worldwide. The session was presided over by Chairperson Gouri Bhatnagar and Vice Chairperson Mansi Tank, who guided the deliberations with insightful moderation. The conference witnessed the participation of 15-20 delegates representing various nations, each contributing their perspectives on humanitarian issues, economic disparities and policy frameworks essential for global stability.
The event commenced with a formal roll call to confirm the presence of delegates followed by GSL, where each delegate presented their opening statements, outlining their country’s stance on the topic. As the session progressed, a moderated caucus facilitated structured debated on subtopics, while an unmoderated caucus allowed delegates to engage in open discussions, negotiate alliances and draft resolution. A press round was conducted, where delegates faced inquiries from the International Press, challenging their policies and diplomatic approaches. The Chair further questioned the delegates, testing their understanding and the feasibility of their proposed solutions. An unexpected emergency situation was introduced, requiring delegates to think on their feet and propose immediate action plans. The conference concluded with the voting process, where resolutions were assessed and finalized. The event wrapped up with a vote of thanks by the president of the IISU Economic Society, Miss Avani Sharma.
To honor the outstanding performances of the delegates, several awards were presented. The Best Speaker award in recognized the most articulate and impactful delegate, while the Honorable Mention and Special Mention were given to delegates who showcased exceptional research, diplomacy, and negotiation skills. The Best Dressed award celebrated the delegate who adhered to the formal and diplomatic dress code, enhancing the decorum of the conference. Additionally, a Certificate of Recognition was awarded to commendable participant for their active engagement and contributions throughout the event.
UNECOSOC provided an enriching experience for all participants, enhancing their understanding of international relations, economic policies, and global diplomacy. The event concluded on a high note, with delegates commended for their research, negotiation skills, and diplomatic approach. The IISU Economics Society continues to foster intellectual engagement and global awareness through such events, encouraging students to become proactive thinkers and change-makers in the realm of economic and social development.
